The advertising campaign from is running from the 16th January 2012 – 8th February 2012.

The annual most successful Turk awards took place on Monday 21 November 2011 at the Hilton hotel in Park lane and Direct Traveller was lucky enough to be there.

Why you ask? Well our managing director Mr Ramadan Ozdemir was nominated for successful Entrepreneur of 2011.

The Most Successful Turk Awards is an awards ceremony organised by Business Network that is aimed at recognising success, innovation and ethics across businesses and talented individuals within the UK. Paragliding in North Cyprus....

Direct Traveller team members recently visited North Cyprus with friends and family for a summer holiday. While Direct Travellers marketing manager Enver Ozdemir decided he would have ago at paragliding in North Cyprus and convinced two friends to join him ;-)
	The landscape in North Cyprus and all year-round warm climates makes it an ideal for paragliding. This was a great experience where team members learnt to ride the thermals and enjoyed the freedom of the skies. We were collected by minibus and returned by air to the main pick up point and drop off point. The main take-off site is just west of St. Hilarion Castle with breathtaking views of the whole of Kyrenia. Once up there we were briefed on how everything works and what to expect while in the air. Once in the air the enjoyment of the experience took away any fears that Enver and the other flyers had. Enver said “The bird’s eye view of Kyrenia was amazing and I would recommend paragliding in North Cyprus to everyone, it was truly enjoyable and I will try this again in the near future.” This paraglide was organised through Direct Traveller and Highline Air Tours who is the first tandem paragliding company to operate in North Cyprus, since 2003. Highline Air Tours offer tandem paragliding flights, single pilot transport and guiding, paragliding equipment, as well as aerial photography and fishing trips.

Last week Direct Traveller team members took part in the the third Clapham Common 5k Series. We was lucky that is was a beautiful morning with team members warming up for their run at 8:30 am.The course is one 5k lap and a combination of path and trail running. Mainly a flat terrain with only a couple of hilly areas and some very interesting twists to insure the runners where concentrating.

North Cyprus – spreading the message throughout the UK

July saw the North Cyprus Tourism Centre conduct an unprecedented level of promotional activity throughout the UK. From posters on Manchester train stations and Birmingham trains, to London buses and the underground, North Cyprus has been visible everywhere.

At the same time, the national press advertising campaign was enhanced with a week-long promotion in Metro newspapers. Distributed free in 16 cities throughout the UK and Scotland, the Metro has a combined national circulation in excess of 2 million. The campaign began on Monday 25th July with a page advertorial about holidays in North Cyprus. A competition ran all week for four holidays donated by North Cyprus tour operators - Direct Traveller and other tour operators. There were more than 6000 entries, showing a high level of interest in the destination and boosting visitors to the North Cyprus Tourism Centre website www.simplynorthcyprus.com.

The outdoor advertising campaignwill continue into August. North Cyprus Tourism Co-ordinator, Kadir Doruhan said ‘We are delighted with the response to our campaign so far and are looking forward to continuing to promote North Cyprus through our late summer and autumn holiday campaign.’

Direct Traveller (North Cyprus Specialist) yesterday received their award for being ranked as #77 fastest growing company in Great Britain by The Sunday Times.

Direct Traveller last week (8th June 2011) took part in the 14th Annual fast Track 100 conference and awards dinner and received their award for being ranked at number 77 in the whole of the UK, across all sectors as one of the fastest growing companies in Great Britain on the “Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 list”. This was based on 3 years of sales growth. Ranking position is number 77 out of 2 million private companies.

The Sunday times Virgin Fast Track 100 conference and awards dinner took place at Richard Branson’s (Virgin boss) 120 acre Oxfordshire home.

The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track conference and awards dinner had the top business people representing the top 100 private companies in the UK With an abundance of entrepreneurs and business people the talk was all business on the night. (There was even a surprise guest Mark Kelly the famous Astronaut coming over from America to talk about his space experiences). Along within these companies was Direct Traveller representing both best of British and North Cyprus to the business world.

A poll of 2000 by Direct Traveller revealed what is a perfect holiday for British holiday makers.

A 14 day trip to Europe in 27 degree heat with the family is the perfect holiday, according to British holidaymakers. A new study of 2,000 people has revealed the formula for a great break – and shows two weeks in July, enjoying at least nine hours of sunshine a day is just the ticket.

The dream trip will start with a maximum five hour flight, and continue with a 22 journey mile journey in a hire car to the hotel. The accommodation will have direct access to the beach, pools for all the family, and will be set in a peaceful and tranquil area.

And Brits are prepared to fork out a staggering £1,539.83 PER PERSON for the privilege. But only 51 per cent of people have been on their perfect holiday already.

A spokesman for Directtraveller.com, which conducted the research, said: “British holidaymakers prefer to step out of the UK for their perfect holiday, as it feels more like a real break from the daily grind.

“But we don’t like going too far – a five hour flight is all we want, and guarantees you can’t go much further than Europe.

“The results show only one in 10 of those polled would want to travel to the Far East, while a measly four per cent considers Africa a desirable destination.

“The other notable point is the Brits don’t want a big hustle and bustle on holiday, for a truly relaxing time they prefer to stay away from the big lively resorts.”

The poll shows 81 per cent of Brits would want to go abroad for their perfect holiday, and 70 per cent would like to get there by plane.

Ideally, once settled into the accommodation, the average holidaymaker would then love to spend at least four of the 14 days lounging by the pool getting a tan. A further four days would be spent on the beach, soaking up the sun and occasionally participating in water-sports or swimming in the sea.

Another four days would be spent on day trips – sightseeing and experiencing the local culture and tourist destinations.

And a couple of days would be dedicated to shopping in the local markets and shopping malls, stocking up on fake designer goods, gifts, clothes and ornaments.

More than four in five consider how far their holiday money will go when choosing their destination.

But this perfect holiday comes at a cost – as folk would be prepared to pay £907.57 per person for flights and accommodation, and a further £632.26 for spending money.

This means the average family of four would need to save at least £6,159.32 for the holiday of their dreams.

We want to be with our family and we want guaranteed sunshine. “We also want to have the chance for sightseeing and shopping as well as the beach and the pool. “Finally, we balance being active with finding enough time to chill out so we are relaxed and refreshed by the end of it all. “We are delighted that North Cyprus is such a great match for the perfect holiday but also at a lower cost than the average family cost, due to North Cyprus not being in the euro.”

Bowling night for the Direct Traveller team

The Direct Traveller North Cyprus specialist workforce today enjoyed a spot of bowling in Kingston town centre. As part of our monthly night out, the team was competing against each other in an eventful bowling night of Strikes, half strikes and misses!
Teams were separated into boys vs, girls... And avail the boys won the night with 780 points to 455 points! Top bowling performer for the girls was our sales and operations manager Raz flying ahead with 169 points. For the boys Enver our marketing manager lead the bowling team with 206 points.

Good effort from everyone and a great night out amongst Direct Traveller friends and colleagues.

North Cyprus and Turkey Water Pipeline Project

Turkey has announced that they will be piping water to north Cyprus within a few years.

The project has started in 2011 and is expected to carry on through 2012, 2013 and finish in the middle of summer 2014.

The foundations stones have been laid by Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday and the project has begun to link turkey and North Cyprus underground through the Mediterranean Sea.

The fresh water pipe will start from Alakopru Dam and pump itself to North Cyprus. It will be over 120 meters below the ground and over 80km in length.

The supply of 75 million m² of water annually to Turkish Cyprus. This will mean that the beautiful island of Cyprus will be even more green than it is, and will take away some of the pressure of the Mediterranean dryness of the weather for the local people. The locals of North Cyprus are predominately in business in Agriculture and tourism. Both of these sectors will benefit and wit will bring great level of natural development to the area.

North Cyprus Properties For Beach Holidays

There are so many hotels and North Cyprus properties perfect for the beach holiday that one gets so confused where to go and where to stay.

I am looking to book up my beach holiday this year in August for North Cyprus. i want to be on the beach and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. At the same time i dont feel up to the glamour of a 5 star hotel, and want something more downto earth... but at the same time nice.

My options are Denizkizi Royal, Oscars Resort, L.A Hotel and Manolya hotel with its own beach.

My family has a home in Edremit, just west of Kyrenia so i would like to be close to them too. Although all of these hotels are fairly close ot that part of Kyrenia.

I think i will opt for DenizKizi Royal. Oscars resort is nice with its own beach also, and its close to town - but its on the east side of town. DenizKizi Royal is also upmarket, has had a renovation and is offering free half board upgrade. Opting for a suite with a front seaview sounds to me like an amazing choice.

Im looking forward to take in sun rays, and listen to the sea waves in the mornings.

Barbecue time like we are in North Cyprus

This weekend with the weather sampling that of the Mediterranean winter sunshine... Well before the rains followed through and poured in :)

We managed to find the sunshine and setup ourselves a barbecue. This was truly a small taster of what the summer has waiting for us!

Starting with Cypriot meze, cacik, humus, med salad with plenty of lemon and olive oil dressing. We then went on to our mains. We charcoaled on the wood coal fire our delicious kebabs. Lamb Kofte kebabs, lamb shish kebabs, chicken shish kebabs, and some chicken breast and chicken wings. All this you may ask yourself is a little too much? Well it's not compared to a typical meal in North Cyprus. In case you now have an inch of space in your stomach, this is then followed by the most important delicacy Halloumi cheese (helim) grilles on the charcoal in it's own pitta bread.

Well what's for desert you may ask? Yes desert was served half an hour after mains to make sure there is more room in there. We had ekmek kadeyif with icecream followed by kurabiye with Turkish coffee.

If this was a taster let's start dieting from now for the next one, as we won't look good in our swimming outfit on North Cyprus beaches :)

Wow, what a sunny day! Looking outside in London today we can see a wonderful glow of sunshine. This is just a taster of wonderful summer sunshine or the beautiful winter sun I'm North Cyprus every day.

Makes us want to take some timeout and enjoy it... What about you?

This sort of weather is perfect for a slow stroll or some sightseeing or even a nice cup of tea outdoors.

Pro Cancer Research Foundation opens Cancer Shop.

Professor Mustafa Camgoz, the world famous cancer researcher who is the chairman of the 'Pro Cancer Research Foundation' shop was opened in a ceremony by Enfield Mayor Jayne Buckland. This is the first Turkish charity shop opened in London, located at Palmers Green. The opening ceremony was had colourful scenes. There was a major interest in the ceremony because it is the first charity shop of the Turkish speaking community. Prof. Mustafa Camgoz, Support Group Chairman Gonul Salih, members Dr. Deborah Prince, Sabire Camgoz, Seniz Cemal, Sensev Mustafa, Aysın Yılmaz, Nesrin Nevzat, and Enfield Council (Labour Party) Assembly Member Alev Cazim and a very large numbers of Turkish and English guests was at the opening ceremony.

We are here to support Cancer patients and their families.

The charity organisation is the only charity for Turkish speaking cancer patients and families mentioned Prof. Mustafa Camgoz, "Unfortunately breast, prostate and other cancer types are very widespread. We are giving all the support to the patients and families as a foundation. This shop was setup to support the Cancer Research Foundation financially which we require financial support. Thanks to everyone who supported, especially to the vision of Philip Chart who has worked hard for the opening of the shop" he said.

Waiting for the support of helpful people

Sabire Camgoz, the Foundation Support Group Member mentioned the foundation will help 100 cancer patients directly and help 400 patients indirectly. The aim of the shop is to continue the help, provide financial help and increase the services she said. She said "For this job, me and 2 others are working full time and we are doing everything to comfort the lives of the cancer patients and their families". The help shop located at Green Lanes, Palmers Green is open for 7 days a week and the foundation authorities are waiting for the donations of the helpful people.

Of the total number of new cases, 123,100 were in males and 122,200 in females. Breast cancer accounted for 31 per cent of cases among women and prostate cancer for 25 per cent among men.

We would like to announce that registration is now open to all those who want to join next years walk. One such aircraft is a ‘Wellington Bomber’ that went into the sea to the east of Kyrenia near a power station which has been successfully located, explored and photographed.
